Robins winger marks home bow with goal

Jermaine McGlashan struck his first goal for Cheltenham as the Cotswolds club maintained their title hopes with a convincing 2-0 victory.

The former Aldershot midfielder, making his first home start for the Robins, collected a fifth-minute pass from Josh Low before cutting inside his marker and placing his shot beyond goalkeeper Ross Atkins from 20 yards out.

Sido Jombati netted a second 17 minutes from time, turning home a corner that Jimmy Spencer had headed back into the area.

McGlashan was certainly Cheltenham's star turn and in a dazzling first-half display he dragged another chance inches wide before earning the Robins a penalty. However, Atkins palmed away Jeff Goulding's spot kick.

Burton did have chances and the home side were indebted to keeper Jack Butland. First-half injury time saw him save well from Andres Gurrieri and there was another excellent stop midway through the second period to deny Adam Bolder.

Albion were not helped by having substitute Patrick Ada sent off on his debut after an hour after collecting two bookings in the space of 10 minutes.
