Burton Albion 1-2 Coventry- Match Report

Marcus Tudgay and Romain Vincelot are on target as Coventry beat Burton 2-1Coventry boss Tony Mowbray will be pleased his attempts to get the game postponed failed after a 2-1 win at Burton lifted City up to second place in Sky Bet League One.Mowbray, with three players unavailable due to international call-ups, had his request for the fixture to be re-arranged declined by the Football Association as Adam Armstrong and Bryn Morris, away with their respective countries, are at the club on youth loans. But the 51-year-old saw his team come from behind to take the three points with goals from Marcus Tudgay and, controversially, Romain Vincelot after Aaron Martin's own goal had given Burton the lead. The hosts had a good early chance from Abdenasser El Khayati's cross from the left but Tom Naylor's diving header was straight at goalkeeper Lee Burge.Burton were rewarded for a bright start in the 11th minute

Mark Duffy beat Chris Stokes down the right-hand side of the penalty box and his low, driven cross into a crowded area saw the ball whiz through a couple of pairs of legs before Martin poked it into the roof of his own net from five yards out.Ruben Lameiras curled a left-footed free-kick inches wide of the top corner after 19 minutes but Coventry were level a minute later when Tudgay controlled Jacob Murphy's pass and fired the ball past Jon McLaughlin from the centre of the penalty area.Another Duffy cross should have led to a second Burton goal but Naylor, who had timed his run perfectly, powered his header wide.Coventry took the lead in the 56th minute

Murphy's inswinging cross eluded everyone in the box and struck Martin on the chest at the far post

The ball was going to trickle over the line but Vincelot helped it on its way with the slightest of toe pokes. The hosts claimed Vincelot was offside from the rebound off Martin but video replays showed that perhaps it was right to allow the goal to stand.Mowbray's men had chances to extend their lead through Tudgay and Reda Johnson but both sent their efforts over the crossbar.Burton had a glorious opportunity to snatch a point late on but Timmy Thiele scuffed his finish from Lucas Akins' knock back across the face of goal
