kpooleThe evergreen 45 year old looked certain to leave the club after negotiations for a new contract broke down due to complications surrounding his full time job with Birmingham City's football in the community coaching scheme

But now in an unexpected twist of events the club are very close to agreeing terms on a  new full time deal for the fans favourite in a joint player coaching role

The news will be a warm welcome to Burton fans, who voted Poole player of the year in his second season at the club and runner-up to Jake Buxton last season

Poole said: "I think I've got at least one more season in me and, having been here three years now, it would be good to go into the Football League with Burton.

"We've had discussions and we are a lot closer to an agreement now.

"All being well, I will be full-time at Burton and be the goalkeeping coach."

It is now looking more likely that Poole's back up Saul Deeney will be the keeper leaving the pirelli stadium as he is still stalling on a new contract
