Burton Albion V Southend at Pirelli Stadium - Match Preview

Brewers wait on duo

Burton will check on Rory Delap and Dean Lyness ahead of the visit of Southend.

Delap has a hamstring problem while Lyness has been struggling with a foot injury. Both players missed the win at Wycombe last weekend, with 50-year-old Kevin Poole registered to provide cover on the bench for first-choice goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Defender Marcus Holness will serve the final game of a three-match suspension.

The likes of Zander Diamond, Jimmy Phillips, Jack Dyer, Matty Palmer and Michael Symes are all available should Albion boss Gary Rowett wish to make any changes to his starting line-up.

Struggling Southend will be without defensive duo Adam Thompson and Luke Prosser for the trip.

Thompson, having been unavailable for Tuesday's disappointing Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at the hands of Dagenham, misses out again due to his international commitments with Northern Ireland's Under-21 squad.

Prosser, meanwhile, picked up his fifth booking of the season in midweek and now serves an automatic one-match suspension.

The likes of Dan Bentley, Cauley Woodrow, Ryan Leonard, Will Atkinson and Barry Corr will all be looking for recalls having started on the bench against the Daggers, with Southend aiming to improve on a record of just one win in their last eight matches.
