Burton Albion V Rochdale at Pirelli Stadium - Match Preview

Selection poser for Rowett

Burton boss Gary Rowett faces a selection dilemma ahead of his side's first home game of the season against Rochdale at the Pirelli Stadium.

Zander Diamond aside - the centre-half is set to miss the opening month of thecampaign after damaging a ligament in his foot - Rowett should have a full squad to choose from.

He made three changes for the memorable Capital One Cup victory at Sheffield United in midweek as Lee Bell, available after suspension, Michael Symes and Adam McGurk came intothe starting line up.

Adam Reed, Alex MacDonald and Billy Kee were the players to make way and they will be pushing for recalls while the likes of Dominic Knowles, Jack Dyer and Matty Palmer are also options for Rowett.

Rochdale manager Keith Hill also faces a selection conundrum.

Hill, who has no new injury or suspension problems, made four changes for the narrow midweek Capital One Cup defeat at Doncaster from the side that started in the opening-day win over Hartlepool.

Defender Jack O'Connell, plus midfielders Matt Done, Bastien Hery and Andrew Tutte all made their first starts of the season on Tuesday night in place of Michael Rose, Ian Henderson, Peter Cavanagh and George Donnelly respectively.

Hill was delighted with his side's performance, if not the result, and must now decide who to leave in and who to recall as he strives for his strongest starting XI.
