Burton Albion V Hereford at Pirelli Stadium - Match Preview

Brewers aim to blunt Bulls charge

Burton will be without the suspended Shane Cansdell-Sherriff when they host Hereford in the FA Cup.

Cansdell-Sherriff was sent off towards the end of the home league defeat to Morecambe last weekend and the defender will miss Sunday's first-round tie while he serves a one-match ban.

Rory Delap recently suffered a setback in his recovery from an ongoing hamstring problem and will remain on the sidelines. The former Derby and Stoke midfielder has not featured for Albion since a 2-0 home defeat to Oxford on September 7.

Boss Gary Rowett has hinted that he may use the tie to give some of his fringe players some much-needed minutes on the pitch, so the likes of Zander Diamond, Alex MacDonald, Dominic Knowles and Michael Symes could come into contention for starting roles.

Chris Bush's fifth yellow card of the season has resulted in a one-match ban meaning he sits out for Hereford.

The Bulls defender is joined on the sidelines by midfielder Sam Gwynne (knee) and striker Chris Sharp, who is struggling with a dead leg.

Midfielder Kingsley James is due to have fluid drained out of his knee but this clash could come too soon. The Bulls do also have another game on Tuesday, a more likely target for James, which could affect boss Martin Foyle's thinking when it comes to selection with his team hovering precariously around the drop zone.

Foyle will welcome a break from Skrill Premier action, his side have not won in six league games, and hopes a cup shock could kick-start the season.
